The Generation Google Scholarship
Brief Description
The Generation Google Scholarship was established to help aspiring computer scientists excel in technology and become leaders in the field. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD (for those studying in the US) or 5,000 CAD (for those studying in Canada) for this current school year. As part of the scholarship, current high school seniors who are entering their first year of university in 2017-2018 will be required to attend Google’s Computer Science Summer Institute (CSSI) in the summer of 2017. Current undergraduate or graduate students will be invited to attend the Google Scholars’ Retreat in the summer of 2017.

At Google, they believe information should be universally accessible. Hence they are offering Generation Google Scholarship to inspire and help students become future leaders in computing and technology by breaking down the barriers that prevent them from entering these fields. The scholarship is open to undergraduate, graduate and high school students. Selected students will receive 10,000 USD (for those studying in the US) or 5,000 CAD (for those studying in Canada) for this current school year.
Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Since Google was founded in 1998, They have grown to serve millions of people around the world.
Eligibility:
Requirements for Current University Students:
- Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student for the current academic year.
- Intend to be enrolled or accepted as a full-time student at a university in the US or Canada for the next school year.
- Be pursuing a computer science or computer engineering degree, or a degree in a closely related technical field.
- Exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for computer science and technology.
- Exhibit a strong record of academic achievement.
- Be a student from an underrepresented group in computer science (African American, Hispanic, American Indian, Filipino/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander)
Requirements for High School Students:
- Be current high school seniors.
- Intend to enroll in, or be accepted, as a full-time student at a university in the US or Canada for the next school year.
- Intend to pursue a computer science or computer engineering degree, or a degree in a closely related technical field.
- Exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for computer science and technology.

- Be available to attend Google’s Computer Science Summer Initiative (CSSI) in the summer of this year.

Application Deadline:
- Deadline to apply annually: March 2, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time
- Deadline for references to submit letters: March 9, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time

Note: This scholarship is for this year’s google scholar and those who intend to apply for the next academic season.
The fee of $5,000 - $10,000 is paid in cash directly to the winners of google scholars account, not to the university.
